整个房间唯一与现代沾边的,只有我枕头旁的一幅海报——纽约的街景和玫瑰(the skull and roses of the Grateful Dead)。 到了中国,我开始学习中文和中国现代史当……(I’d started to study modern Chinese history and the Chinese language at a time when China was terra incognita)。 (最后一句待翻译:That first brush with a Chinese spy would not be my last.)

One of my goal is to translate a biography named Chinese Lessons----Five Classmates and the Story of the New China. He recorded his five roommates fate during the past 30 years, as well as recorded the new China's fate during the same time.
I will translate and click the Chinese edition to this blog from now on. 12月30日 How Much Can I Realise My Dream?Everytime I read the luxury fashional magazines, I always felt a little bit embarrassed. any bag, jewelry, or perfume will cost me monthly even yearly income. HK people believe that Christmas in this year is white, despite real snowflake hasn't stopped by HK.
The famous Christmas town shrinks into only one Christmas tree, the malls still prepared the tree, santa and reindeer, but not luxury any more~~~
Four years ago, I visited HK for the first time, sometimes I had to talk with the locals in English for most of them couldn't speak mandarin, I had even been regarded as Taiwanese when I paid for a samsonite bag.
This year, I already can speak Cantonese frequently. But it seems unnecessary in HK now. when shopping SASA or market malls like Times Square, I found many buyers around me speak mandarin. Besides, most of the sellers can talk with them in mandarin.
A mainland visitor told her other friends, "We are treated as God here, they are willing to do that because HK can't survive the global financial crisis without mainland."
The Christmas town only have one tree this year.
Few vistors in the tallest building of HK--Internetional Financial Center.
The Christmas forest in front of Times Square.
BTWToday, Dazheng asked me if I'd like to breed a cat. his a friend had two dogs and one cat, but she found it is difficult to breed their three for the financial crisis(I still can't understand the relationship between the crisis and her decision~~)
I told to Jianfeng and he is willing to accept the poor guy.
So we will embrace a new family member this weekend. |
